Desync (Official Trailer)

Ana, a young Filipina filmmaker, shoots a re-enactment of a fight she once had with her mother - a fight brought on by mutual refusals to communicate. Spurred on by the obsessive need for perfection, Ana “fixes” the fight by rewriting every veiled insult into a chance for forgiveness. As her perfect story diverges further from the reality of what happened, she begins to realise what her mom has been trying to say all along. Streaming until May 01, 2026.
Selected Awards: Best Director for a Canadian Short, Vancouver Asian Film Festival 2024 Jury Prize, Ottawa Canadian Film Festival 2024 Best Editing & Best Screenplay (Open Youth), Singapore Youth Film Festival 2024 Best Narrative Short, Forest City Film Festival 2024 Winner, Student Cinematography, Canadian Society of Cinematographers Awards 2024 Best Writing, TIFF Next Wave 2024 Outstanding Short Film Producer, Reelworld Film Festival 2023

Director: Minerva Navasca Written by Chen Sing Yap & Minerva Navasca Producer: Asa Kazerani

Cast Ana: Jadyn Nasato Celine: Jennifer Villaverde Joyce: Angelica Alejandro Francesca: Tatiana Ashton Background: Victoria Bacani, Xander Pham, John Dela Cruz, Keaton James Browning, Xavier Liska, Jeff Pollock, Nathalie Cocq, Dee Talusan, Erin Zhao, Rowan Mikolic-O'Rourke, Eric Génier, Kellsie McCullough Loop Group: Brianne Harvie, Eric Génier, Huzeifa Essaji, William McNaught, Sam Koabel, Michelle Qadir, Dee Talusan, Kolton Easun-McLennan, Sarah Saunders Director of Photography: Laura King Production Designer: Dee Talusan Edited by Chen Sing Yap Music by Wilfred Moeschter Sound Designer: Sarah Saunders Casting Director: Ellie O’Brien VFX: Kyle Gallagher, Evan Govedas Transmedia: Minerva Navasca Transmedia Assistant: Sarah Saunders Production Manager: Holly de Vaal Associate Producer: Chen Sing Yap 1st Assistant Director: Emilia Mieres 2nd Assistant Director: Kellsie McCullough Script Supervisor: Xander Pham Story Editor: Brianne Harvie Props Masters: Nathalie Cocq, Xavier Liska Set Decorator: Nathalie Cocq Production Design Consultant: Alex Morris Art PA: Keaton James Browning Camera Operator: Jeff Pollock 1st Assistant Camera: Tarneem Allati 2nd Assistant Camera: Rowan Mikolic-O'Rourke DMT: Eric Génier BTS Photographers: Kyle Mathers, Gaetano Segreto Production Sound Mixers: Leo Wei, Greyson Barit, Cameron Coddington Boom Operators: Rachel Millares, Leo Wei, Isaac Stacey Gaffer: Jacob Lea 1st Electric: Khairul Hafizh Said Key Grips: Marco Ciardullo, Evan Jones Costume: Victoria Bacani Makeup & Hair: Keyana Sinclair, Kellsie McCullough, Safa Kay Location Manager: Holly de Vaal Set PA: Erin Zhao Post Supervisor: Chen Sing Yap Re-recording Mixer: Elliot Beer Online Editor: Chen Sing Yap Colourist: Hugo Hum Assistant Editor: Eric Génier ADR Engineers: Sam Koabel, Sarah Saunders Special Thanks: Maritess Navasca, Jeremias Navasca, Sibel Guvenc, Randall Kapuscinski, Desiree Thyme, David Barlow, Victoria Bacani, Shivani Sondhi, Martin Restrepo, Daniel Centeno, Paula ner Dormiendo, Wan Fong Woo, Wan Man, Didier Kennel, BFTV Staff and Faculty Locations provided by: Theresa O’Connor, Touchdown Coworking Space Sponsors: UFVA, Ontario Camera, Pilot Coffee Roasters, Crepe Delicious, Jalenah’s Eatery, Montfort Mediterranean Cuisine Restaurant, Carinderia by DFlores, STACK Smmmoked, Comhan Canada Inc.
